Residency Summary
Kevin Casas-Zamora presented a public talk on the realities and misperceptions on the war on drugs as well as guest lectured in class and met with student leaders. He also met with leaders of the University of San Diego Trans-Border Institute and the Institute of the Americas.
Biography
Kevin Casas-Zamora is the former vice president of Costa Rica, where he also served as minister of national planning and economic policy. He is the current secretary for political affairs at the Organization of American States. He was a senior fellow in foreign policy in the Latin America Initiative at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. He holds a JD from the University of Costa Rica, an M.A. from the University of Essex and a Ph.D. from the University of Oxford. His research focuses on political finance, elections, citizen security and civil-military relations in Latin America.
