Residency Summary
Cai Fang presented a public talk titled "Challenges for the New Chinese Leadership" sharing his insights on these issues as the country's new leadership embarks on consolidating power and adjusting policies. As a fellow, he also had various opportunities to connect with IR/PS faculty, staff and students as well as chances to meet with people from the San Diego community.
Biography
A top demographic scholar and economist, he is a graduate of Remin University and earned his doctorate in economics from the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), a premier academic research institution in China with focuses on philosophy, social sciences and policies. He is currently a CASS fellow and director of the Institute of Population and Labor Economics in the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and a member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (since 2008).
