Biography
Allison Hooker is a seasoned foreign policy and national security specialist with over 20 years in the U.S. government, primarily focused on Asia. She currently serves as a senior vice president for American Global Strategies. She held key roles as deputy assistant to the president and as senior director for Asia at the National Security Council, where she led U.S. policy in the Indo-Pacific and coordinated closely with regional allies and partners.
Previously, Hooker served as special assistant to the president and senior director for the Korean Peninsula. She was central in shaping U.S. policy towards North and South Korea during significant diplomatic engagements, including the summits between the U.S. and North Korea.
Before her White House tenure, she was a senior analyst of North Korea at the Department of State’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research, where she contributed to U.S. strategy in the Six-Party Talks on North Korea’s nuclear program.
Hooker holds a master’s degree in international affairs from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in political science and public administration from Georgia College and State University. She was a fellow at Osaka University and Keio University, where she researched Japan-Korea relations.
